Independent Montreal band THE SOFT SHOULDERS are looking to bring their original sound to wider audiences! They bend genres to create fun, energetic, melody-driven compositions. Influenced by country, grunge and blues-rock, their sets always leave audiences wanting more.

Encouraging progress on the local scene led the group to hire producer Mike Nash (who has worked with members of Blue Rodeo, The Dears, Malajube and more) to produce, engineer and mix their debut EP Different Places, released in the Spring of 2018 (recorded at Freq Shop studio and mastered by Mike Field). In 2023, they released a second EP, Songs From The Barn, their last recording with guitarist and vocalist Henri Brillon. Multi-instrumentalist Nick Swail took over guitar duties following Henri’s departure, also contributing keys and backup vocals. A third release featuring Nick, is in the works for 2024.

The band’s track record includes being finalists in the Landmark Events Showcase Festival in 2016, which led them to play at the prestigious Club Soda and Le National. Deeply rooted in Montreal, THE SOFT SHOULDERS have played in many of the city’s best clubs, including  Casa del Popolo, Piranha Bar, La Vitrola, L’Alizé, Hémisphère Gauche, L’escalier, Crobar, Mademoiselle, Barfly, L’Entre-Nous, Café Atomic and more.
